Has your brother locked you up to steal your throne?
Then welcome, Robert Curthose. To everyone else, welcome. Passed is the podcast about the people who would never rule. These are the people who might have been king or queen, but were ‘passed’ over for some reason.
I’m Veronica Fortune, and Passed was inspired by a mention in Mike Duncan’s Revolutions. He mentioned Charles I’s older brother, Henry Fredrick. Henry Fredrick had been a charismatic, intelligent, capable young man. He would have, likely, been a greater king that his brother or father (or even nephew, Charles II), but he died prior to his father. I wanted to know more about him and I realised others might want to as well. I still haven’t done an episode about Henry Fredrick, but he will get one in time. I love looking at these, sometimes, forgotten almost kings.
These subjects have allowed me to investigate things we take for granted in our history learning. Like, Salic Law, and chivalry. I have also recently expanded into YouTube.
This is a one woman podcast, with help from Phillip, my supportive husband. When I’m not reading, writing, recording, and planning I’m a stay-at-home-mom/mum to my three human children and one fur child. My educational background is eclectic, I have a degree in Merchandising Management from Oregon State University, a TESOLs from OxfordTEFL, and an Advance Diploma in Soft-Tissue Therapy from Canberra Institute of Technology. While I don’t have a degree or a background in history all three of my qualifications have required extensive research and communication, skills that I put to use on this show. Please feel free to email me with any questions.
